Training Report
Summary: Course leader Sgt. Nakari Kass'l led the formation through the content and materials provided for the Basic Reconnaissance Training (referred to as BRC for the rest of this form), with notes and commentary provided by experienced members of Ghost Squad including Aradow, Corth, and Kjvago. The class then engaged in a game of 'Hide And Seek' with the scoundrels inside of Wardpost Landa, and spent the better part of a half hour using their new knowledge, and prior training to seek out Ghost Squad. Several troopers demonstrated their keen sense of where to find stealthers, though two scoundrels proved difficult to capture.
Afterwards, the troopers and Ghost Squad split for another exercise, geared towards giving the scouts some experience in communication. The Troopers set out from Wardpost Landa en route to House Rist, while Ghost Squad attempted to set up Observation points to locate the moving unit. A second round was had, with the Troopers setting out from House Alde Library and taking an indirect route to Wardpost Lourdes.
Positive Points:
- There were lots of questions, and everyone had excellent answers (even those inexperienced in Ghost Squad tactics).
- The assistance of experienced Ghost Squad members was invaluable for stressing important information.
- Large class size, and everyone seemed to be engaged.
Negative Points:
- A couple of late joiners, most of which had already attended BRC in the past.
- Noted that one trooper silenced his mic and headset for the lecture portion, and only participated in the games afterwards.
- Exercise B (Recon exercise) was less than ideal due to tricky troopers taking too indirect of a route, making it difficult for the ghosts to practice as they had no target.
Overall Assessment and Recommendation:
Future exercises for Recon need to be more direct and less challenging, but overall I feel that this course was successful.
