Contact Report:
Enemy Encountered: Five <Clan Rodarch>, Hrokkvir <Reign>, three <Nightmare Squadron>
Friendly/Neutral Encountered: Viozaer
Contact Summary: Alpha Company formed up at Republic Watchtower to get ready for a patrol with an eight man balanced group. Once everyone showed up, 1SG Kjvago Mahr led the troops out. Due to not having any recon element, the company moved carefully from defensible position to defensible position, heading slowly towards the Imperial base. At some points we made creative use of 1LT Riike Galon as a makeshift scout to make sure we didn't run into an ambush when having to move around objects that blocked all line of sight.
About halfway to the Imperial base the RWS Alrek Torik appeared in the sky to provide orbital support and MAJ Qorbin Oca shuttled down to the surface attired in reconnaissance gear to fill in the missing element in our group.
Finally reaching the Imperial base, still with no Imperial contact, a call came in on 1SG Kjvago Mahr's holocommunicator. He made the call to stop at a nearby defensible hill and forming 360 security before taking out his communicator and accepting the call. Call accepted, a holo of a male Mandalorian appeared, ID'd as Alamor, the Alor of Clan Rodarch, and simply said "We are here" before cutting the call.
MAJ Qorbin infiltrated the Imperial base and sent word out that there were no Mandalorians present. Interpreting the message to mean that the opposition was at the Republic base, 1SG Kjvago asked MAJ Qorbin to quick travel back to base to look for them. When the Major arrived he was able to confirm the presence of a small group of five Mandalorians lurking outside the Republic base.
Electing to ambush the Mandalorians rather than travel back to the base and come out the front door. 1SG Kjvago ordered the troops to mount up and headed back to the base rapidly. As we neared the reported location of the Mandalorians we ordered a stop and dismount behind a nearby hill before climbing up the hill on foot and hiding behind a large tree to allow the commandos to prime their ammo cells and SGT Vejovis and CPL Illumori to distribute their trauma probes before engaging.
Once everyone was ready we rounded the tree and charged down the hill, firing focused fire as the enemy came into range and then hitting them with a coordinated mortar volley followed up by additional hails of bolts before mopping up the rest with focused fire. They all fell within seconds. One wounded Mandalorian loudly complained that we hadn't fought fair, something we all thought odd given our limited knowledge of Mandalorian culture. We had proven ourselves worthy adversaries.
Moving out again to the Imperial base having been joined by our former XO, Viozaer, we arrived with no enemy contacts on the road. We took advantage of a flaw in the base and entered it unopposed and got an overwatch position on a roof inside the base. Realizing that we were inside their base, the Mandalorians returned and fought us. Jumping down off the roof we entered a supply tent to liberate some rockets that were laying out in the open. There, we held off the enemy for a short time until they got reinforcements and had to vacate the vulnerable position.
Running swiftly out of the base, we took many casualties. Our damaged bodies were dragged to a nearby medical facility and patched up before we grouped up and headed out again. Viozaer choose this time to leave to take care of other business due to an electrical malfunction in his armor systems. We traveled southward carefully toward the Imperial base and ran into the Imperials near a ruined fence where we engaged them, making use of the fence as an obstacle, harpoons, coordinated mortar fire and focused targeting to work rapid attrition on the enemy force we held our ground and won.
Before the enemy could come back, we moved out of the fenced area and onto a highly defensible rock formation to get a better over-watch and terrain advantage where we could consolidate our forces, clean our weapons and patch our wounds before the enemy charged us again. Again, terrain advantage, focused targeting and coordinated mortar fire won the day.
Charging off our position to take out the last two visible enemies who were watching us from a distance before taking another strong position closer to the Imperial base. Apparently demoralized and defeated, the enemy called for surrender. Careful of trickery we rapidly moved to another strong point near the enemy gate and formed a staggered skirmish line before accepting the Mandalorian envoy approaching us. 1LT Riike Galon walked out to meet him and the Mandalorian admitted defeat and yielded the planet to us wowing to fight us again sometime in the near future.
After the Mandalorians left we approached Hrokkvir who offered vague threats before fleeing. To add insult to injury we then attacked and killed the Imperial base commander who had been abandoned by his allies before taking a shuttle back to the prison administration to form up and be dismissed.
Positive Points:
Everyone payed attention to orders and moved where they were supposed to
Everyone was vocal when they had to go afk
Turnout was good
Focus and AOE was great
Negative Points:
Rodarch was demoralized and quit
Overall Assessment and Recommendation:
This was a fun fight in great terrain and everyone did an amazing job following orders, moving where they should, forming 360 security when needed, making use of terrain, harpoons, focus fire and our signature mortar volley to great effect. We worked together so well and demoralized Clan Rodarch so thoroughly that they overestimated our numbers by 150% of our actual numbers. This was my first time getting to command world PvP in a long long time and it felt good to flex those muscles again, especially with such a good crew listening.
The following members are recommended for commendation:
All members present for this event are being recommended for the Legion of Combat by 1SG Kjvago Mahr for their exemplary ability to follow commands and execute battle procedure.
1LT Riike Galon is being recommended for the Bronze Star of the Republic by 1SG Kjvago Mahr for his heroic service ensuring safe passage for the troops in the absence of any recon element at the risk of his own life and limb.
