Event Summary: Alpha Company veterans conducted a training session on squad leadership and command responsibilities. This course taught the fundamental skills needed to successfully perform the role of a battlefield commander in Alpha Company. Students were instructed on advanced concepts such as assessing combat power, force maneuvering, evaluating enemy strengths and weaknesses, utilizing terrain features , and the anatomy of an open-world fight. PvP Warzone strategies and positioning were also covered to promote effective small unit leadership for members still acquiring their PvP gearsets. Only members with the rank of Specialist and above were eligible to receive this leadership training.

Positive Points:

• Troopers showed good enthusiasm and participation throughout the duration of the event.
• A visual aid presentation allowed for students to more easily digest and understand the lecture material.
• Most students were able to stay focused on the course, with only one failed "AFK check" situation.
• All members of Alpha Company's command staff were present, offering a wide range of insights and additional experience to share with future leaders.
• The course stayed within the allotted time period, barely.

Negative Points:

• The warzone strategies portion needs more refinement. It may be wiser to make this addition a separate training program, available to all ranks.
• More detail could have been placed on terrain analysis. Only broad concepts were covered, with few specific examples of identifying favorable locations for common situations.
• The visual aid presentation contained some typos and minor errors, which degraded the overall product.

Overall Assessment and Recommendation: This course turned out close to how I predicted it would. I had hoped for one or two more Specialists/NCOs to be present for it, but the time slot this course was moved to is difficult for many to accommodate. As a result, this course will be offered again next week at a time slot suitable for those members who still need to receive this period of instruction. More evaluation will be required at senior levels to determine if the Warzone piece was beneficial of it should be re-designed and offered as a separate piece for all Alpha Company members to receive. The current course took 1 hr and 55 minutes to complete, meaning any changes or additions will likely result in it going over its 2 hour maximum duration.
