Contact Report
Enemy Encountered: None
Friendly/Neutral Encountered: Ekoth
Contact Summary: Alpha Company Forces conducted a Combat Arms Training Level 2 training session on the offensive styles and defensive cooldowns of the Sith Warrior/Jedi Knight class archetype. Both Marauder and Juggernaught advanced classes were briefed and students learned how to identify which specialization (talent tree) their opponent was utilizing, the key strategy and rotation of each specialization, and how to identify and counter their numerous defensive cooldowns. Live training aids were utilized to demonstrate the graphical effects associated with each ability to allow students to quickly identify these abilities in the field without needing to review tooltip descriptions.
Positive Points:
-Troopers showed good enthusiasm and participation throughout the duration of the event.
-This course was successfully completed by its scheduled time without skipping any of the planned material.
-Although some students struggled with digesting the plethora of information, it was obvious that effort was being applied to the task. I didn't catch anyone ignoring the lecture.
-Several troopers indicated they benefit from this period of instruction once it concluded.
-Great turnout!
Negative Points:
-One random republic civilian caused minor trouble early on in the course by attacking the training aids.
-Instructor failed to purchase the "Field Re-specialization" perk for the training aids prior to the start of the course, resulting in a 5 minute delay while the issue was rectified.
-The CAT-1 Refresher plus the CAT-2 material resulted in nearly 3 hours of intensive training (mostly lecture), which is too long. Future iterations should be no more than two hours.
Overall Assessment and Recommendation: I'm happy with the way this course was conducted. For an inaugural run of the re-vamped CAT skills courses, I couldn't ask for it going much better. A few improvements have been identified to increase the effectiveness of this course in later iterations. Multiple students claimed they learned new facts and tricks for fighting Sith Warriors as a result of this training experience. Offering opportunities for our players to learn and grow in a productive environment should continue to be a priority for the instructor staff as long as the interest level in these types of courses remains high. If any students have comments or suggestions for improvement or would like to suggest a separate course topic, please list them in this thread. You can also send the instructor a Private Message via the forums if you wish to keep your anonymity.
